New Learner?
IMARK is an e-learning initiative in agricultural information management developed by FAO and partner organizations.
Welcome to the IMARK online community page which provides a starting point for IMARK contributors and learners to collaborate on-line and share resources. The discussion groups listed below are hosted by Dgroups and are being developed on an ongoing basis.

A general learners' group is available for each module as well as specialized discussions related to individual topics covered by IMARK. Some groups are open to participation by all, while registration is required to participate in others. The primary language used by each group is stated beside the group title.

We strongly encourage participation by new and current learners in the general learner groups.

General learner groups:

General Learners' Group - Module on Management of Electronic Documents (English)
This group provides new and registered users of IMARK Modules with general information and updates about the modules and related subjects. The group provides resources for further study, and offers members an opportunity to share their own knowledge and resources with other learners, and to write to other members for advice and guidance.

Subject specific groups:

Application profile to exchange AGRIS resource metadata in XML/RDF (English)
This workspace is for members of the AGRIS community who wish to export their data to the central database in XML format using the guidelines given in the AGRIS AP document. It facilitates the exchange of ideas on issues related to implementation of exporting metadata from local databases in XML. The list also encourages discussions regarding the possibilities of moving from XML towards an RDF based exchange of metadata. All participants are encouraged to share their ideas and implementation experiences for others to learn from.
The group touches on issues related to lessons on descriptive XML mark-up language covered in Module Unit 2 (Formats of electronic documents and Images) and Metadata standards covered in Module Unit 3 (metadata standards and subject indexing). This is a closed space.

WebAGRIS (English)
Workspace dedicated to the users of WebAGRIS - a complete, multilingual Web-based DBMS for distributed data input, processing and dissemination of agricultural bibliographic information. Regular and new participants from all around the world can meet here virtually to: access various resources, such as the latest software versions, manuals and guidelines, useful links, news about upcoming training in WebAGRIS; find a message board for questions and answers, and seek help for both technical and conceptual problems; exchange application ideas, demos and examples; call for cooperation on projects. The DGroup touches on issues related to collection, cataloguing, subject indexing as well as exchange metadata between bibliographic databases (mainly from/to CDS-ISIS based applications).
WebAGRIS is one of FAO's principal contributions to the elaboration of IMARK Module A "Management of Electronic Documents" and the arguments treated by this Dgroup are linked to the content of the Units 3, 5 and 6. This is a closed space.

In addition, to the IMARK groups, we have provided links to other general discussion lists which are related to topics and or resources covered in the IMARK modules entitled "Management of Electronic Documents" and "Digitization and Digital Libraries"
